Booking your Hair & Makeup Artist
If you’re reading this, I am guessing you’re at the start of your wedding planning journey! But this isn’t just normal wedding planning, is it? It’s trying to plan a wedding during a Covid-19 pandemic! As if wedding planning wasn’t hard enough, eh?!
I have been a hair and makeup artist for 12 years and have learnt so much about the ins and outs of wedding planning in that time and especially in the last year since the pandemic hit us! Therefore, I thought I would take this opportunity to help out newly engaged brides like yourself, looking to book your hair and makeup artists for your wedding day.
These are some helpful tips for booking your artists when things are feeling uncertain!
CONTACT YOUR WEDDING HAIR & MAKEUP ARTIST ASAP!
First thing you need to do, as soon as you know your wedding date and wedding location, is to get in touch with your local artist. Many artists are filling up very quickly with bookings, postponements and micro weddings for 2021/2022. For myself, I am not only doing hair and makeup in Norwich but in Cambridgeshire as well as Somerset and Europe. As a bridal hair and makeup artist that travels for her job, I need as much notice as possible so I can try and accommodate my brides and I know many artists will be the same.
Booking early will avoid disappointment. We all know the importance of looking like the best version of yourself on your big day and no one wants to settle! Start chatting to your artist ASAP!
DISCUSS YOUR CONCERNS
Obviously, during a ‘normal’ year, you would usually discuss with your makeup and hair artist the looks and styles you’re after, your wedding day goals and bridal party looks. However, living in a time of Covid-19 as meant there is a whole extra load of information you require for your big day.
To ease your mind, it is important to discuss with your makeup artist, their policies for booking them for your wedding. As an artist that spent most of 2020 postponing and shifting wedding dates, I have everything in place to ease my bride’s mind and make sure she knows where she stands while rules are constantly changing with the government.
Discuss postponement policies, booking fees, refunds, cancellations and government enforced lockdowns and how they affect your contract. This will make things simple, should things change on a dime!
My policies are on my T's & C’s and simply outlined. Should a postponement take place, a new subcontract, will be sent out that keeps everything safe and moved to the new date.
POSTPONEMENTS
A very important piece of advice from me would be, if you are planning to postpone your big day, please contact your suppliers ASAP. This will ensure they are available on your new date. No supplier wants to have to turn away a bride and groom that they built a relationship! Getting in touch as soon as you can, will ensure no one is disappointed!
From here, it is the fun stuff! I’ll be writing a full post on what to expect once you have completed your booking with your artist and paid your booking fee to hold your wedding day!
If you have any questions on your upcoming wedding and/or need advice, please get in touch! I would be more than happy to help you!
